More than an Example

When we hear about Jesus being tempted in the wilderness, it is easy to turn the account into a call to try harder like Jesus, to resist like Jesus, to quote Scripture like Jesus. But the temptation of Jesus is not a do-it-yourself project. Where Adam fell and where we give in, Jesus remains steadfast. Our hope is not in our effort, but in our Champion who has conquered in the fight for us.
