Serving Our NEIGHBOR
We are saved by faith alone in Jesus Christ (Ephesians 2:8–9). Yet this saving faith is never standing still or idle. Genuine faith overflows in love toward our neighbor. “We love because He first loved us” (1 John 4:19).
God calls His people to care for both body and soul. Jesus reminds us in Matthew 25:40, “Truly I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to Me.” Caring for our neighbor means providing for physical needs—food, clothing, shelter, dignity—as well as pointing people to the eternal hope we have in Christ, who alone brings life and salvation.
At Immanuel, we live this out through a variety of opportunities and ministries. From diaper and bottle and food and clothing drives, to hands-on service projects, from supporting local families to partnering with churches around the world, we seek to embody Christ’s compassion through our words and deeds. Our Human Care Board and other committees help us organize these efforts so that together we may be the hands and feet of Christ in our community and beyond.
Serving our neighbor is not an optional add-on to the Christian life, it is the natural fruit of faith. Because we have been served by Christ in His death and resurrection, we are freed and empowered to serve others in His name.
