Tonight we are reminded that Jesus was born where animals, possibly sheep, were kept, and the shepherds watching their flocks were the first to hear of the good news of His birth. In biblical times sheep were vital for daily life and often used in sacrifice, pointing to Jesus - the Special Christmas Lamb - who would come to offer the final sacrifice on the cross.
